DISASTER BUCKETS NEEDED

In view of the flooding in Houston, buckets of cleaning supplies will be flying off the shelves for Disaster Response.  Let's help do some restocking. Here is a list of supplies needed:

- One five-gallon plastic bucket with resealable lid (if bucket has been used, clean well but do not use if it has held chemicals of any kind)

- Four scouring pads

- Seven sponges, including one large

- Eighteen reusable cleaning towels (e.g. Easy Wipes)

- One 50 oz. or two 25 oz. bottle(s) of liquid laundry detergent

- One 16-28 oz bottle of liquid disinfectant dish soap

- One 12-16 oz bottle of household cleaner that can be mixed with water (no spray bottles)

- One package of 48-50 clothespins

- Clothesline, two 50 ft or one 100 ft.

- Five dust masks

- Two pairs non-surgical latex gloves

- One pair work gloves, cotton with leather palm or all leather

- 24-48 heavy duty or contractor type 30-45 gallon trash bags on a roll and remove from carton

- One 6-9 oz bottle of non-aerosol insect repellent

Youth Readers Needed

We'd like to involve the children more in worship by having them read the Prayer of the Day before the Children's Sermon.  If your child would like to read, please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex.

September 5 - Adult Choir practice begins

Adult choir rehearsal will begin Tuesday, September 5th at 6:30 pm.  Bell Choir rehearsal will begin on Sunday, September 10th after church.  We would love to have anyone interested in singing on the choir or playing the handbells to join us on these dates.

September 7 - Fleetwood Area Food Pantry

It's our turn to help at the Fleetwood Area Food Pantry again on September 7th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The pantry is located at the Fleetwood Community Center at 110 W Arch Street.  Volunteers help to bag and distribute food to over 125 needy families in our area.  All helping hands are appreciated.

September 8 - Chile Pepper Festival

The Chile Pepper Festival will be held once again at Bowers Park, and this year we've been asked to help by collecting donations at the main entrance gate on Friday, September 8th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. In return, the congregation will receive 10% of the gate fees collected on that day.  Sign-up sheets to help are on the bulletin board.  PRAY FOR SUN AND GREAT ATTENDANCE!

September 10 - Sunday School Begins!!

Sunday School will start on Sunday, September 10th.  Please complete the registration form so that we can provide all that will be needed for each grade level. If you could send the completed registration to the church office or email it to Carla by September 1, that will be very helpful.  As always, we welcome all of Christ's children  to join us.  New this year, we would like for you to come down to see what we have done and also to sign out your child.  This will help us to get to know you and also for you to get to know all of the teachers.  Your participation is greatly appreciated.  Registration forms can be found on the bulletin board on in the "Newsletter" section of the website.

Confirmation Classes begin September 10

If your child is entering 7th grade, it's time for him or her to start our confirmation program. Class starts on September 10th, immediately after worship.  Parents should attend the first 20 minutes for orientation.  Class will run until noon. Please let the pastor know if your child will be a new attender.

September 11 - Lunch Bunch

The Lunch Bunch will be going for lunch to the Bridge Inn in Pleasantville on September 11th.   If you like good food and fellowship, come join us!  All are welcome!

September 16 - Battle of the Bands

On September 16, the church will be sponsoring a table at the Brandywine Heights Community Battle of the Bands at the field behind the high school.   This is a drug-free zone, non-smoking, no alcohol event for all ages starting at 2 pm.  The headliner acts are 'Junior Grades' and last year's  winner, 'Kayla Avitabile'.  Lots of music, a car show, craft vendors, fun and more!  Admission is free with delicious food, refreshing drinks and memorabilia and merchandise available for purchase (no outside food or drinks allowed).  Come enjoy a relaxing event - bring a blanket or lawn chair - bleacher seating will also be available.

SAVE THE DATE!! Oley Fair - September 23

The Oley Fair will be held September 23rd this year.  We are looking for volunteers to work the French Fry stand from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.  If you're to volunteer, that would be great.  Sign up on the bulletin board if you are able to work a shift.  Shifts are 3 hours long.  If you cannot work three hours, that is ok.  Please note on the sign-up sheet.

September 30 - Potato Harvest Festival

We've been invited to the first ever Potao Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 30 at Zion Lutheran Church in Perry Township.  Becky Reinhart's will be roasting a pig, selling funnel cakes, and catering a Partner Meal at 5 pm that day.  There will be time to help pick potatoes and other vegetables for local food pantries as well.  The church grounds will be hopping!  The van will leave Dryville at 3:00.

Looking for Guitar Lessons

Craig Kemp, who currently plays guitar for our Paise Band, has volunteered to teach aspiring guitarists of any age, who might like to participate in the Band as well.  If this sounds good to you, check with Craig (cjkemp@ptd.net).  The pastor has volunteered her acoustic (non-electric) guitar for use as well.
