Snacks for Sunday

If you (or a group of you) would like to sign up to bring snacks for some Sunday, that would be great.  There's a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.  We're also accepting packs of cookies or other snacks that can be stored for Sundays when no one is signed up.  Snacks don't need to be anything elaborate, just something to munch on with or without coffee.

Yoga every Wednesday

Come join us every Wednesday evenings at 6 pm for yoga.  Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. We will be meeting in the Social Hall.  For more information, please see Bonny Mensch.

September 6 and 7 - Bowers Chile Pepper Festival

The Chile Pepper Festival will be held once again at Bowers Park September 6th and 7th from 9 am to 6 pm. Admission is suggested donation, free parking included. Come sample the many hot, and not so hot foods at the many vendors attending.  There will be a jalapeno pepper eating contest Saturday at 4 pm.  Music entertainment will be provided by The Acoustic Roadshow.  For more information, visit www.pepperfestival.com.

We will be having a Name Tag Sunday and a covered dish lunch after church on Sunday, September 8.  Come and join in the fellowship, and put some names and faces together.  Please sign up on the bulletin board for what you'll be bringing.

September 8 - Confirmation

If your child is entering 7th grade, it's time for him or her to start our confirmation program which meets Sunday's after church.  A meeting with parents and youth will be held immediately after worship on September 8.  Please let the pastor know if your child will be a new attender.

September 8 - Sunday School starts

Sunday School starts September 8th.  Please complete the registration form found in the lobby and return to Carla or the church office by September 1st.

September 10 - Choir practice begins

Adult choir practice will begin September 10 at 6:30 pm. Chimes practice will begin September 8th right after worship for about 15 minutes.  Bell practice will follow chime practice.  We would love to have anyone interested in singing on the choir or playing in the handbells or chimes to join us on these dates.

September 14 - Battle of the Bands

The Brandywine Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, September 14 from 2 pm to 10 pm at the field behind the high school.  This is a drug free zone, non-smoking, no alcohol event for all ages. The headline acts will be Abby Craft (the winner from 2018), Hannah Violet Trio and Junior's Grades.  Also, food will be available for purchase.  Because the church will have a table at the event, it would be great to have volunteers to man the table from 2 pm to 6 pm.  If you would be available to help, please let the pastor know.

September 17 - Lunch Bunch

The Lunch Bunch will be going to Valentino's for lunch on Tuesday, September 17th at noon. If you like good food and fellowship, come join us!  All are welcome!

September 20 - Youth Group Kickoff

Come visit our Youth Group Kickoff (Grades 6-12) on Friday, September 20 from 7-10 pm. There will be an outdoor movie shown with popcorn and ice cream.  It will be a great time to gather with friends, eat, watch the movie and figure out what we do next.  Come with an appetite and lots of ideas.  For more information, contact Maria Winkler at wink1788@gmail.com.

September 21 - Oley Fair

The Oley Fair will be held on September 21st, and once again, we'll be helping with the French Fry stand from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.  If you're available to volunteer, that would be great. If you are able to work a shift, please sign up on the bulletin board in the lobby.  The shifts will be three hours long.  If you cannot work three hours, that is ok.  Please note on the sign-up sheet.

This is a fun way to help raise money for our special activities in our congregation and is also fun to do.

September 29 - Coffee and Conversation

Andrew Potteiger will lead the next Coffee and Conversation after worship on September 29, and he will be speaking about the Pennsylvania Youth Survey, a survey of students in the 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grades concerning their behavior, attitudes and knowledge about alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and violence.

Should you have questions regarding donation eligibility, wish to sign up for a blood donation, or general questions, please contact John Tomasi at 610-641-0180 or jtomasi0523@gmail.com.  Let's try to beat our Spring drive and get at least 20 or more pints!

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS NEEDED

The Sunday School is looking for volunteers to help on Sunday's.  All ages, high school and up  are welcome to help.  Let Carla know if you are interested in helping.

Backpack Program

The Brandywine School District is starting a program to send home backpacks of food over the weekend for children in the free and reduced meal program. We've been asked to provide individual MICROWAVALBE servings of spaghetti and meatballs (microwavable 7.5 oz cups), mac and cheese (microwavable cups) and individual soups (microwavable, any variety).  Powdered milk, oatmeal cups and individual cereal cup are also being collected. The brand is not important, just the size and the micorwavableness.  No child should be hungry, and this is one way to help.  Thanks!

We have been given an updated list of items needed to pack backpacks for next month:

Microwavable vegetables (single serving)

Snack Pack pudding

Tuna packets

Canned meat  (single serving)

Chicken Rice a Roni

Mac and Cheese (single serving)

Soup (single serving)

Fruit snacks

Cereal boxes (single serving)

Horizon 8 fl. oz. milk

Snack crackers

Thank you for your continued support of this program!

Youth Readers Needed

We'd like to involve the children more in worship by having them read the Prayer of the Day before the Children's Sermon.  If your child would like to read, please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex.
