September 4 - Adult Choir Begins
Adult choir practices will begin September 4 at 6:30 pm. Bell Choir practices will begin Sunday, September 9 after church. We would love to have anyone interested in singing or playing in the hand bells to join us on these dates.
September 9 - Sunday School Begins
Sunday School will start September 9th. Please complete the registration form so that we can provide all that will be needed for each grade level. If you could send the completed registration to the church office or email it to Carla by September 1, that will be very helpful. As always, we welcome all of Christ's children to join us.
The Sunday School is looking for volunteers to help on Sunday's. All ages, high school and up are welcome to help. Let Carla know if you are interested in helping.
September 9 - Confirmation
If your child is entering 7th grade, it's time for him or her to start our confirmation program. A meeting with parents and youth will be held immediately after worship on September 9. Please let the pastor know if your child will be a new attender.
September 15 - Battle of the Bands
The Brandywine Battle of the Bands will be held on Saturday, September 15 from 2 pm to 10 pm at the field behind the high school. This is a drug free zone, non-smoking, no alcohol event for all ages. The headline acts will be Long Stay (the winner from 2017), the Hannah Violet Trio and Junior's Grades. Also, food will be available for purchase. Because the church will have a table at the event, it would be great to have volunteers work the table from 2 pm to 6 pm. If you would be available to help, please let the pastor know.
September 22 - Oley Fair
The Oley Fair will be held on September 22nd, and once again, we'll be helping with the French Fry stand from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. If you're available to volunteer, that would be great. If you are able to work a shift, please sign up on the bulletin board in the lobby. The shifts will be three hours long. If you cannot work three hours, that is ok. Please note that on the sign-up sheet. This is a fun way to help raise money for our special activities in our congregation and is also fun to do.
October 7 - Church Dedication
Save the Date!! Our new building will be dedicated on October 7 as part of our regular 9 am worship service. Bishop Zeiser will be here to preach. We'll also be having a potluck dinner that day. So mark your calendars now, and prepare for the celebration.
Upcoming Youth Events
The church dedication is October 7th, so there will be no Sunday School that day. However, the Sunday School will be singing in the service.
October 28 - Trick or Trunk
November - Sunday School Service Project
December 1 - Youth Sunday
The Brandywine School District is starting a program to send home backpacks of food over the weekend for children in the free and reduced meal program. We've been asked to provide individual MICROWAVALBE servings of spaghetti and meatballs (microwavable 7.5 oz cups), mac and cheese (microwavable cups) and individual soups (microwavable, any variety). Powdered milk, oatmeal cups and individual cereal cup are also being collected. The brand is not important, just the size and the micorwavableness. No child should be hungry, and this is one way to help. Thanks!
We have been given an updated list of items needed to pack backpacks for next month:
Microwavable vegetables (single serving)
Snack Pack pudding
Canned meat (single serving)
Chicken Rice a Roni
Mac and Cheese (single serving)
Soup (single serving)
Cereal boxes (single serving)
Horizon 8 fl. oz. milk
Thank you for your continued support of this program!
Youth Readers Needed
We'd like to involve the children more in worship by having them read the Prayer of the Day before the Children's Sermon. If your child would like to read, please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex.
